I was referred to this paddle by my best friend who swears by Titan, and I’ve got to say, it’s lived up to the hype. Right out of the box, or lack of box, the paddle felt super light, almost like it wasn’t even there. On the court though, it has a solid feel with just the right amount of weight. I can really feel the paddle working with me during swings instead of just flinging around in the air.
Control is where this thing really shines. I noticed a difference right away during dinking battles at the kitchen. It gives me a little more finesse and confidence with my placement. I also noticed my serve feels quicker and has more pop behind it.
Before this, I was playing with the Evoke Premier by Onix, which definitely had more pop and felt more offensive overall. The Titan Pro 16L feels a bit more defensive by comparison; not in a bad way, just more focused on control and precision. It makes me curious to try the 14L to see how it plays and if it has that extra bit of aggression I’m used to.
One thing I will say: the handle was pretty slippery at first. If you’re playing outdoors a lot like I do, you’re definitely going to want to throw an overgrip on it. Once I did that, the paddle felt dialed in and game-ready.
I do wish the paddle came in a box or at least with a nice bag. For something that looks and plays this well, it deserves a little more fanfare in the packaging department.
I’m an advanced player for Illinois, probably intermediate if I walked onto a California court, but I play more for the workout and the fun than anything else. That said, I still want to win, and this paddle gives me an edge without taking itself too seriously, kind of like me.
